The VR80 Pro Trigger is the most vital upgrade you should consider for your VR80 Semi-auto shotgun. While Elftmann Tactical is known for its drop-in trigger systems, we went with a component system for the VR80 shotgun. Component triggers have one advantage over drop-in cassette style triggers, the ability to shed dust and dirt and keep running because they dont have the tight constraints of the housing. The Elf VR80 Pro Trigger utilizes the proprietary ELF PRO LOCK threaded mounting system. The combination of aerospace grade sealed bearings, precision ground threaded bushings, and screws instead of traditional pins provide a rock-solid trigger system. Because pins require some “play” for the hammer and trigger to rotate, there is always a little play in a traditional trigger system. This new threaded system with sealed bearings adds a level of “solid” you need to feel to understand the difference. This is not your average forged steel component trigger – made of wire EDM machined, hardened A2 tool steel, this trigger is not only easy to keep clean, its precise, crisp break and positive reset will take a competition shotgun to the next level. Installation can be done in minutes using the supplied installation screws. The ELF VR80 Pro Trigger may be ordered with red or black shoes, straight shoe included. If you are looking for the finest, most robust and precise trigger upgrade for your VR80 box fed shotgun, this is the trigger system for you. So here is the deal. This trigger is the best available for a mag fed shotgun so if your setting up a VR for open 3 gun you will need it. That said there are issues some are ELF design issues, some are armscor manufacturing issues, but combined if you dont know a fair bit about how ar triggers work and are scared to modify parts and or your gun you should probably move along. First the screws will come out and get lost the only solution is very strong loktite which essentially permanently installs the hammer. Next the pin locations vary enough they have to leave plenty of metal on disconnector and hook. If you don't know how to time the disconnector if yours won't reset stop here. Finally the hammer springs usually won't clearance vs the front corner of the reciever, so when you have to smash it in there your going to get coil binding and light strikes. ELF thinks thus has something to do with spring weight, it does not, you will probably have to remove metal from front of trigger pocket to make room this will solve the problem but it may not be for you.

A buddy had the drop in version of this Trigger to me this the ELF looks cheap, but the break is clean and there is practically no take up. However the reset is trash it is not consistent, slow and soft at times. Their was never a clean reset I was not impressed with its overall performance.

Here is an update after attempting to use this trigger for almost a year. Still feels decent and works well when working. The hammer is no longer breaking into 2 pieces. That problem is resolved. However, the light strikes do still occur, even after trimming coils off of the firing pin return spring. However, the biggest problem now is that over time the bearings in the hammer fall apart resulting in safety malfunctions and ultimately complete failure. In my opinion, it is not a question of if the trigger will fail, but when. The company does continue to send replacement parts without question. Opinion part:If you are a recreational shooter that only shoots a couple hundred rounds a year, it will probably last a long time. If you shoot thousands of rounds per year in practice and competitions, it will break.

I will start with the good. The trigger is a great upgrade to the factory. It is smooth, has a clean break and short reset. Now the bad! The 1st set of them sent out had the hammers breaking between 1 and 100 rounds. Mine lasted about 100 rounds and I have friends who have broken at least 5 in as few as 1 round. Great customer service in the sense that they replaced them all. However, the new springs they sent were too long and did not fit in the lower receiver. I was told to use the original springs. Now the trigger pull is down to 2.2lbs and we are getting primer light strikes. Also, the hammer screws are continually backing out, even with loctite blue applied after degreasing the threads. Waiting to here back from them with a solution. Appears as if the customer is beta testing the product.

Trigger was installed per manufacturers instructions. After installing the functional check revealed that the trigger would not reset. Dry fire and manually cycle the bolt the hammer would engage the catch. However would not return to firing position when trigger was released. Don’t waste your time or money on this. Stock trigger is heavy and not very elegant But it WORKS. Lesson learned.
