PRP Drop-In Trigger Kit for the original XD/XDM/XD Mod2 9/10/.40/.45 cal models contains our famous striker safety lever and a pre-fit trigger to remove the long trigger travel on the pistol trigger. Included are two different trigger springs and striker springs (the competition weight springs (the lightest weight) are marked with blue ink). The other reduced weight springs are the sear spring and the striker safety spring which helps lower the pull weight. To help speed up the reset, our trigger is made of tough light weight polymer. It also has an integral over travel stop on the back of the trigger. Using this method of over travel stop removes added stress on the trigger bar that are present with any of the other over travel stop methods. When installed correctly, this kit will give you a short, crisp trigger pull (about 3.5-4.5lbs) with a fast reset and shorten the total trigger pull length. After 10 years, it was time to gift my XDM with this new trigger kit. Other pistols like those from Canik and Walther's new PDP have really upped the game on triggers. This new Powder River Precision trigger has a shorter, lighter pull and a shorter reset. It's buttery smooth. You owe it to your XDM to do this.

I bought this to improve the trigger action on a Springfield XD-40 Service Model. The install was easy enough and the new trigger action is certainly very short with little take up. Be aware that instructions and labelling of components is non-existent so YouTube is your installation friend! The components with a daub of blue (striker and trigger spring) are the competition components and give the lightest pull (and possibly an underpowered striker spring).I experienced two problems, firstly the trigger safety pre-installed in the trigger doesn't reset when the trigger resets, you need to manually push the safety lever back into its reset position. This doesn't prevent use of the gun but it means the trigger safety is not preventing the trigger from being depressed as intended. The second problem is serious and at time of writing remains unresolved. The very short trigger action is not sufficient to lower the seer block enough to release the striker, so the gun won't fire. I tried everything I can think of short of filing down the striker release block which I'm not willing to do for a drop in trigger kit. Its currently with a gunsmith to try and resolve (probably doubling the cost of this trigger!).I will add that my XD-40 Service Model is one of the first generations of this model from the 2000's. My suspicion is the this trigger kit was designed to work with later generations only and not for the original generation. So, be cautious if you have an older generation XD40/9 and perhaps look for successful reviews from people with later models.
