The Timney replacement trigger for the AR PCC is the latest in the Timney lineage of AR-style, semi-automatic, replacement triggers. Timney is offering two models for the AR Style Pistol Caliber Firearms – curved and straight shoe options. The trigger, hammer, and bridge are constructed of heat-treated steel. The housing is machined 6061, T6 anodized alloy and the trigger is factory calibrated for a pull weight of 2.5 to 3lbs. for the single stage. The Timney replacement trigger for the AR Pistol Caliber Carbine is a self-contained, 100% drop-in trigger ready to install in your rifle for an exceptionally smooth, crisp, trigger pull with no gunsmithing, fitting, or adjusting required. The new Timney Trigger for the AR Pistol Caliber Carbine trigger is a 100% drop in replacement that features a hardened steel bridge to protect the trigger components from the vigorous bolt blow back characteristics prominent in Pistol Caliber Carbines. I wanted an upgrade for a 9mm build so I wrote the Timney Tech Support on what they recommended. The answer was that the only 9mm trigger that Timney has is the MPX trigger #681. I ordered it right away. Now I haven't fire many rounds with it yet, but the install was too simple and the break is great and crisp.

It was a clean install. You will need to remove the safety roll pin (1/16" punch) and slide the safety out to slip the trigger unit under it. The two set screws can be torqued down until they are snug, then give them an extra 1/8th turn to set them. I will check them at each cleaning to be sure. The set screws will ensure the hammer and trigger pins don't creep, and keep the trigger unit stable. The trigger is very nice, and (although not measured) feels around 2 lbs. It is far better than the stock trigger. This makes a great gun even better.

Super fast shipping. The packaged arrived at my house in 2 days with standard shipping. The new flat blade trigger was extremely easy to install and made a major Improvement in the accuracy… at a hundred yards, shooting off hand, my groups went from being roughly 10 to 12 inch groups to closer to 4 to 6 inch groups, and that was with cheap, 115 grain ammunition.

This trigger required minor modification to fit into the Aero EPC lower. I called Timney and the rep was very helpful and said they were now aware of the problem. Basically the black piece that slides onto the back of the trigger needs to be milled down about 1mm on the back corners. Once done, it drops in tightly and functions flawlessly in my setup with the aero epc upper and fail zero BCG. Its not hard to do at all with a file or dremel.

This is an excellent trigger for my AR PCC. It is very easy to install, and it significantly enhances the shooting performance of the rifle. Timney has a video that describes how to install the trigger- you do not have to be an experienced gunsmith to get great results.

BLUF: I would not recommend this trigger for anyone that shoots competition with a PCC or SIG MPX. I installed this trigger on a Sig MPX Gen 2 PCC model to replace the heavy 4.5LB stock trigger. This trigger, along with every other Timney I've used, was amazingly simple to install. Once installed the trigger meetered consistently as advertised on my trigger gauge. This is the reason this trigger receives 2 stars. After install and firing ~2k rounds through the gun I've determined there is a significant design flaw in the trigger somewhere. Unfortunately, my trigger would require me to completely take my finger off the trigger shoe to reset. I passed my MPX off to other MPX and PCC shooters and they stated a similar result. This trigger was very slow to reset, which would be fine in a precision trigger, but not for a competition trigger. I've since swapped to the Hyperfire trigger, with much better result.
