The Timney Tikka T3 Trigger is fully adjustable for Sear Engagement (Creep), over travel (Follow through) and both pull weight stages. Adjustment of the pull weight is completed by turning the pull weight screws with a 5/64 hex Wrench. Adjustment of the sear engagement and overtravel are completed using a .050 hex Wrench. Sear Engagement: Sear engagement controls the amount of movement the trigger has before it breaks. On the Tikka T3 Trigger the first stage is take up, followed by a distinct wall or stop and then the second stage controls firing. The sear engagement process is for the second stage not the first. Sear engagement is custom set at the Timney Factory and shouldn’t need adjustment. However, if you want to adjust your triggers sear engagement (Creep) the procedure is as follows: With the rifle unloaded and cocked. Engage the safety. turn the sear engagement screw clockwise until it stops. Slowly turn it counter clockwise 1/8 of a turn or one flat of the .050 hex wrench. The safety should move freely but the trigger should not move when the safety is engaged. Overtravel: Overtravel (Follow Through) is the distance the trigger moves after it fires. Timney Trigger Jedi’s adjust the overtravel to factory specifications but overtravel is a matter of preference and can be increased or decreased to match your preference. The over travel screw is on the front of the housing just above the pull weight screw. With the trigger in the fired position and using a .050 hex wrench, turn the screw clockwise until it stops. Once the screw stops, turn the screw counter clockwise 1/8 of a turn or one flat of the hex wrench. Squeeze the trigger as you turn the screw to the desired amount of follow through. BE CAREFUL if the overtravel is set too tight the trigger will not fire. Pull Weight: Pull weight is controlled by the bottom screw on the front of the housing. Using a 5/64 hex wrench turn the screw clockwise to increase the pull weight or counter clockwise to decrease the pull weight. From the factory the first stage is set at 8 oz. the second stage is set at 1 lbs. The first stage can be adjusted up to 1lbs. and the second can be adjusted up to 2.5 lbs. Total pull weight is measured by adding the first and second stages together. From the factory the first stage is at 8 oz. the second is set at 1lbs. for a total of 1.5lbs. of pull weight. Although my OEM trigger was excellent I thought I would give it a try. Wow this is the smoothing action I have ever felt. It is so smooth and precise. Installation was as simple as can be. Make sure to dry fire it a couple of times as after installing I went to test it (dry fire) using a force typical of my other rifles and shotguns and it fired. It is very light but once you get the feel it is very precise. Just pull gently back to the wall, hold, the it goes bang as soon as you pull a little harder.

I found the stock Tikka T3 trigger had far more creep than it should have had for the price point of the firearm. The Timney 2-stage trigger is excellent with a crisp break. Total weight for the two stages was 2 lbs.

So this is certainly controversial, but I replaced the factory 2-stage trigger in my Tikka Tac A1. I had the Yo-Dave trigger spring in it and had my trigger breaking at 2lbs consistently prior to installing the Timney. The reason the Timney is better is simply because it is smoother, and gives the user significantly improved control over the break. With the Timney installed you can SAFELY go below 2lbs and have complete control over the break – which is phenomenally crisp and clean every time. The main difference in pull weight that you'll notice is that in the Tikka factory 2-stage, the first stage is very springy and takes up a fair amount of the total pull weight which makes it harder to find the wall – especially if you're shooting under stress at a match etc. The Timney first stage is very light and soft and finding the wall is very easy and natural and you never have to worry about pulling through the second stage when adrenaline is pumping. If you're a trigger snob and want the best, this trigger is for you. If you shoot PRS matches, this trigger will certainly help. If you're a serious hunter or hunt long range, this trigger is for you. If all you do is shoot prone at a local range or shoot from a bench and punch paper, you probably won't realize the benefits this trigger has to offer. This trigger wont improve your groups… BUT it does give you more control while shooting positional.
